The park was established in 2005 and got its name from the river “Maze” which crosses the park. The total area of the park is 220 km2 including around 33 mammals SPECIES, 138 species of birds and 6 species of plants. It is one of the best sites in the zone as well as in the region where good population of the endemic Swayne’s hartebeests are still survive. Maze offers extreme pleasure together with breathe taking scenic beauty that is comparable or even more spectacular than any other attraction in Ethiopia .The Swayne’s Harte beasts is one of the most tourist appeal to the park and the tourists will have ample opportunities to see Orbi’ Bohor ,Red Buck, Buffalo, Warthog, Bush buck, Water buck, Greater kudu, Bush pig, Anubis Baboon, several wild Cat species, and the large predator, Lion and Leopard. There are two camp sites in the park. Maze campsite and Gawera campsite. Maze provides opportunities of viewing life of the local people, trekking mountain, ecological studies and Bilbo Hot Spring.
